Baltic Mystery

About us

We are a small family business established 11 years ago. As the Baltic Sea is home to an amber, so the Baltic coast is our own homeland. We come from the legendary Lithuanian seaside resort, Palanga, where we spent our entire childhood playing in pine forests, dunes, by the sea, with waves washing our feet every free moment.

Imagine a child who finds something small and precious in the sand, every time he walks among the pebbles of the sea. Step after a step another and another, until you have collected a handful of the most genuine, diverse ambers. And when these ambers turn into jewelry and decorations in the hands of craftsmen, you begin to understand what a gift the sea brings after each, and every storm passes. This is how the magic of amber is born, which we have been enchanted by since childhood and want to share with our customers too.

What is Amber?

Amber is a mineral of organic origin. Archaeologists say that amber was discovered 9000 years ago, but its formation could have started tens of millions of years ago. During the storms and hurricanes in the Baltic Sea region, sticky resin leaked from the broken trees, forming gigantic drops, which detached from the bark and fell to the ground overtime. Various insects landed on the viscous and sticky resin, getting stuck there forever. When the rain washed out these resin parts from the soil to open sea waters, the processes of polymerization and oxidation turned it into now well-known and cherished amber. There are more than 20 stratums of amber in the world, the largest of which is located in the Baltic region, which contains almost 80% of the world's amber reserves. More than 350 shades of amber are counted, from white to black.

Use of Amber

The use of amber is very wide. The best known and widespread use is amber jewelry. There are also many works of art, amber is used as additives in modern medicine and cosmetics. Natural succinic acid extracted from amber is used in medicine, improves the endocrine and circulatory systems, slows down skin aging processes, reduces headaches of various origins, especially useful during pregnancy. Amber infusion helps to cope with many diseases, for example: urinary organ diseases, facilitates the treatment of throat, tonsillitis, and bronchitis. Unpolished amber is used for therapeutic and cosmetic massage. Amber oil is used in cosmetics to treat skin diseases, e.g., acne, psoriasis, scratches, normalizes blood circulation processes, has a soothing and
antiseptic effect.

How to store amber?

Amber is the most sensitive of all gemstones. Jewelry should be stored in a dark velvet-lined box to prevent it from being scratched by other goods. When wearing jewelry, you should avoid getting grease on the surface. You should also use perfume before wearing amber jewelry. Choose a shady, darker place, for displaying amber artwork at home or office, the one that is out of direct sunlight. Following these simple rules, amber will last an exceptionally long time.
